Ross Curtis is Executive Vice President and Chief Portfolio Officer for RenaissanceRe with responsibility for the execution of the company’s gross-to-net strategy, by providing oversight for RenaissanceRe’s risk tolerance, portfolio optimization and deployed underwriting capital. He is Chair of RenaissanceRe’s DEI Council and is based in Bermuda. Prior to this, Ross served as Group Chief Underwriting Officer for RenaissanceRe from 2014 to 2022, with responsibility for directing RenaissanceRe’s underwriting strategy, activities and teams across all regions and platforms to ensure the highest levels of consistency and customer service. Between 2010 and 2014, Ross was Active Underwriter of Syndicate 1458, based in London. He was appointed to the Executive Committee of RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. in May 2010. Prior to this, he served as Senior Vice President of Renaissance Reinsurance Ltd. in Bermuda, primarily responsible for underwriting the International and Retrocessional Property Catastrophe portfolios, along with responsibility for Ceded Reinsurance and involvement in the development of the Specialty Reinsurance lines. Ross joined RenaissanceRe in 1999 as a Catastrophe Reinsurance Analyst and has played a significant role in the ongoing development of the Company’s proprietary Renaissance Exposure Management System (REMS©) and its portfolio analysis methodologies since that time. He earned his Masters degree (Honours) in Mental Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh.
